What was a Death March?Death marches were the forcible movement of Nazi concentration camp prisoners. These marches occurred when the Soviets initially took one camp, so the Nazis began moving their prisoners towards the interior camps of the Reich.

Why did they do this? The Nazis forced their prisoners to march to different camps because they didn't want any of the Allied forces finding the camps and seeing how bad they were treating the prisoners. Also, some thought they could use the prisoners to bargain with the west for more land.
